Nursing student from Tamil Nadu college was not kidnapped, gangraped: Dindigul SP

DINDIGUL: Dindigul district superintendent of Police, Dr A Pradeep, on Tuesday clarified that the allegations of kidnapping and gang rape made by a nursing student from a Theni private college on Monday have been found to be false.
In a statement, the SP noted that the second-year nursing student from Uthamapalayam in Theni had initially claimed that she left her house on Monday to go to her college and got off from a bus at Theni old bus stand.
She further alleged that when she went to use the washroom there, she was kidnapped by a gang in a car and then gang-raped, before finally being abandoned at Dindigul railway station.
She then filed a complaint with the All Women Police in Dindigul, and a kidnapping and gang rape case was registered. The young woman was also admitted to Dindigul govt medical college hospital for a medical examination.
Dindigul SP Pradeep, however, on Tuesday said that a police probe revealed that no kidnapping or gang rape took place. He added that the girl filed a false complaint due to facing mental distress.
